Castle Pines North Homes for Sale
Castle Pines North is the original name of what is now the City of Castle Pines, a community of roughly 11,000 residents on the west side of I-25, about twenty miles south of downtown Denver and just north of Castle Rock. If you have been searching for “Castle Pines North,” this is the place. It is a different community from The Village at Castle Pines, the gated neighborhood across the interstate, and the two are covered on separate pages here.

Castle Pines North or The Village at Castle Pines?
The names get confused constantly, including in listings. Castle Pines North became an incorporated city in 2008 and voters shortened the name to the City of Castle Pines in 2010. It sits on the west side of I-25 along Castle Pines Parkway. The Village at Castle Pines is a private, gated community in unincorporated Douglas County on the east side of I-25, home to Castle Pines Golf Club and the Country Club at Castle Pines. Mailing addresses for both typically read Castle Rock or Castle Pines, which adds to the confusion. You will find The Village on its own page: The Village at Castle Pines homes for sale.
A short history
Castle Pines North grew up as a set of neighborhoods in unincorporated Douglas County. In October 2006 residents formed a committee to explore incorporation, and on November 6, 2007 voters approved it by roughly four to one. The City of Castle Pines North was formally established on February 12, 2008 with the election of its first mayor and council. On November 2, 2010 voters approved dropping “North” from the official name, and in May 2019 the city adopted home rule, becoming the 102nd home rule municipality in Colorado.
For a buyer, the practical effect of that history is that the city now controls its own planning, parks, and open space, and it has invested heavily in all three.
What it is like to live here
The city is built into the pine-covered ridges that give the area its name, at an elevation above 6,300 feet, with most neighborhoods laid out along Castle Pines Parkway and the roads that branch off it. Many streets follow the ridgelines, so lot shape, grade, and exposure change from one block to the next, and a good number of homes back to open space or the ravines between the ridges.
The parks system is the standout. The City of Castle Pines maintains nearly 60 miles of trails, 122 acres of developed parks, and more than 1,850 acres of open space. Named parks include Elk Ridge Park, Coyote Ridge Park, Retreat Park, and Daniels Gate Park. Immediately west of the city is Daniels Park, a 1,000-acre Denver Mountain Park, the only one in Douglas County, known for its resident bison herd and a long view of the Front Range from the overlook.
Golf is public here. The Ridge at Castle Pines North, a Tom Weiskopf design that opened in 1997, plays to a par of 71 and just over 7,000 yards from the back tees, and it is open to the public. The private courses in the area, Castle Pines Golf Club and the Country Club at Castle Pines, are inside The Village across the interstate.
Everyday shopping and services sit along Castle Pines Parkway near the I-25 interchange. The Denver Tech Center is a straight run north on I-25; Castle Rock’s downtown and the outlets are a few exits south.
Castle Pines is within the Douglas County School District. Assigned schools depend on the address and boundaries are revised periodically, so confirm the current assignment for any home you are considering directly with the district.

How I work with buyers and sellers in Castle Pines
I spent more than 25 years building and running businesses before real estate, including work in design, construction, and renovation. In a community like this one, where the housing stock is established rather than newly built, that background matters. I look at what a house will cost to bring up to date, how the lot drains, what the ridge-side grading is doing to the foundation, and what the view corridor will look like if the parcel below it is ever built on. Those are the details that decide value, and they are rarely the ones in the photographs.
For sellers, the work is preparation, pricing against the current comparable set, and a marketing program built for the property rather than a template. I don’t just list. I launch.
